Native Plant Hikes - One, Two, Three Hour Plus - In Sedona
We guide out-and-back or loop hikes suited to your ability level for an immersion into Sedona's native plant life and wilderness areas. Our focus is the medicinal science behind the native flora and how, when and why we utilize their bounty.
There are no set times for these hikes, we will launch anytime at your convenience. We suggest morning and evening as best times in summer. Once you select your hike from the buy menu we will contact you to arrange your hike time and trail. Trailhead directions will be texted via Google maps.
We will address plant identification along the trail with in depth discussion of traditional plant uses and preparations. Basic herbalism principals will be taught and shared as we explore the local upper Sonoran. Some of the plants we will see;
Yerba Santa, Yucca, Mormon Tea, Algerita, Ocotillo, Buckbrush, White Sagebrush, Snakeweed, Silk Tassel, Manzanita, Prickly Pear, Agave and more...
We guide over easy to moderate terrain, with some challenging sections. We are happy to put you onto a hike you'll love or guide you on one you've already selected. We'll take you to the hot spots and the scenic vistas, caves or coveys, we simply don't care where. But here's things to bring;
WATER!! The high desert demands sweat, and you'll want at least two bottles...Hat and Sunglasses ...these are the essentials
Otherwise bring a pack or basket, pruners if you have them, snacks, a walking stick, flashlight if it's a sunset hike, gloves or boots if you want, definitely a camera and a way to take notes if you're a geek like me.
We trail along in shade where possible and cater to a group pace with plenty of time for lingering at key spots. Let us know if you want a customized tour. We are happy to work with your group! Discounts given to groups of 3 or more and applied at trailhead!
